Glass Painting Workshop with Kurdish Artist Mariwan Jalal

Mariwan’s workshop will include instruction on painting glass and also ceramics. All materials including paints will be provided.

Work created during the workshop will be fired and then put on display in the P21 gallery until the end of the Gulan at 10 festival, when it may be collected and taken home.

Born in Kurdistan Iraq Mariwan is a mixed media artist whose works reflects elements and stories from daily life and mirrors his Kurdish tradition. Mariwan uses a variety of materials and processes. Although there may not always be material similarities between the different projects they are linked by recurring formal concerns and through the subject matter

Pattern and decoration is part of his work, including making large silk prints to make wallpaper, and as part of his ceramics work.
